Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon was born on the 22nd of March 1976 in New Orleans Louisiana USA. Her parents were both medically oriented in their careers, with her father John was an otolaryngologist and mother Betty a PhD Pediatric nurse. She is from direct descent of one of the signatories of the Declaration of Independence “John Witherspoon”. Her family being from the south, has influenced her in terms of being inclined to family and traditions. She started out as a model for a florists television ad which started her on the long walk to fame. Went to Stanford to get a degree on English Literature, which she failed to finish pursuing her acting career instead. She landed her first role applying as a bit player which landed her the lead role for the film “The Man in the Moon”. Her biggest film so far were the hit’s “Legally Blonde”, “Sweet Home Alabama” and “Legally Blonde 2″. With more than 25 films under her belt, she is sure to be a showstopper for many years to come as she continues to grace the silver screen.
